Preslar had previously played with the hardcore D.C punk band Minor Threat. Roeser attended Chicago’s Northwestern where he met producer Steve Albini and Lyle Preslar, with whom he was roommates. Roeser was a child of 70’s AM radio including Paul McCartney, Wings, and Badfinger. Nathan’s father was a Lutheran minister who introduced him to funk music and gospel choirs. Vocalists and guitarists Nash Kato and Eddie “King” Roeser both grew up in Minnesota, but they didn’t meet until 1985 when they both attended Chicago’s Northwestern University.īefore he was known as Nash Kato, Nathan Katruud grew up with Norwegian parents in the racially mixed south side of Minnesota. Formed in 1991 from former members of the Bhopal Stiffs, the Watchmen and the Defoliants, the quartet-Greg Dunlap, guitar Rob Warmowski, vocals, bass Brian Gay, guitar Admiral David A. Local heroes: The members of Buzzmuscle have a healthy sense of humor about themselves but they take their rock 'n' roll seriously. Although there was stiff competition for the right to shoot the "Sister Havana" clip, the band decided to stick with TV Eye. Directing credit goes to TV Eye partners Paul Andresen and George Dougherty, who previously co-produced and directed Urge's "The Kids Are Insane" and "The Candidate" videos from the "Supersonic Storybook" album on Touch and Go. The video was shot in Miami and features the band cruising the beach in a 1972 Cadillac convertible, performing in the lobby of a decrepit Cuban hotel and skimming southern waters in a high-speed air boat. Chicago's TV Eye Film just finished shooting the video for Urge Overkill's soon-to-be-released "Sister Havana" single for Geffen Records.
